Bulgaria Hit by Deadly Floods, Emergency Help Needed!

Heavy rains hit Bulgaria on Thursday, June 19. Floods hit the Black Sea resort city of Varna and the eastern regions of the country, killing at least 10 people, damaging houses, blocking roads and cutting off electricity.


Cars were smashed and houses were flooded by the heavy rainfall. It’s a state of emergency in the suburbs of Varna where electricity was cut off.


The tragedy is enormous and Monday, June 23rd was declared a National Day of Mourning for the victims of the floods.

A fundraising campaign has already started on June 20 by the Bulgarian Donors’ Forum and the Charities Aid Foundation to help victims of the flood disaster.
