October 11 and 12 became Holiday Heroes’ landmarks. They set the beginning of our third Christmas campaign with a mini football charity tournament, bringing together 21 teams representing socially responsible companies in Bulgaria.
The challenging championship was hosted by Musagenitsa Sport whose playfields became the venue of the event’s official kickoff by businessman Tomas Lafchis and legendary football player Nikolay “The Kaiser” Todorov.
This weekend we had the following companies doing sports with a cause: UniCredit Bulbank, Paribas Bank, Smart Communications, Max, Great Wall, HP, Kammarton, Nik, ASIC Depot, Vivacom, Unimasters Logistics, Cibank, Mtel, Bella Bulgaria, Netinfo Company, Pepsi, Generali, Red Devil Catering, Musagenitsa Sport, Carlsberg, and Advanced Nutrients.
Singer Tony added to the high spirits of all participants, giving a performance of the song “Love” which we made our Holiday Heroes’ anthem last Christmas. The contemporary dance formation “Nova” for their part impressed the audience with original thematic choreography.
We had a very special surprise for all our visitors. At 16:00 Heart’s Team captain Leo Bianchi lead his crew for a demo match against a team made up of five companies’ employees randomly picked by lots drawing, whose captain was the much-loved TV host Mitko Pavlov.
Out of all 21 teams, CiBank and Vivacom were the ones who made it to the finals.
Mobile network operator Vivacom’s team won an ultimately convincing 4–2 victory and a well-deserved champions’ cup!
Vivacom earned admirations for shutting out their opponents all through the tournament.
The winners got their gold medals and champion prize by no one else but the football legend Dimitar Penev. Plamen “Pinko”Nikolov handed out the silver to CiBank’s team, and Hristo Yanev gave the bronze to Unicredit for finishing third.
The cup winners also got exclusive awards from Carlsberg and Foodpanda.bg, and certificatesof recognition personally from Holiday Heroes’ mastermind—Michael Straumietis.
All funds raised in this championship with the help of socially responsible companies will go to support our mission to deliver tasty food to 5, 000 needy families for the holidays.
